How it works

Two small apps that find each other automatically on your local network. No servers, no sign-up.

1

Run the Mac app

KeystrokeQR Host lives in your menu bar and advertises itself on your Wi-Fi. Grant Accessibility once so it can type.

2

Pair your iPhone

The iPhone finds your Mac automatically. Enter the one-time code shown on the Mac — a single, encrypted pairing.

3

Scan & type

Put the cursor in any field, scan a code, and the text is typed instantly — optionally followed by Tab or Enter.

Built to be private & fast

Local-only

Everything stays on your Wi-Fi. Your scans never leave your network — there is no cloud service.

Encrypted & paired

Each connection is end-to-end encrypted and only works between devices you explicitly paired.

Real keystrokes

Text is injected as genuine, layout-independent keystrokes — it works in any app and any field.

QR & barcodes

QR plus common 1D/2D barcodes. A one-second cooldown prevents accidental double scans.

Lock-screen shortcut

Start the scanner from a Lock Screen widget, the Action button, Control Center or Siri.

Free & open source

MIT-licensed. Read the code, build it yourself, or download the notarized-style DMG.
