Privacy Policy

In short: KeystrokeQR collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers we operate. Everything happens on your own devices and your local network.

Data we collect

None. KeystrokeQR does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs. We operate no backend service that receives your data.

How the apps work

Camera (iPhone): used only to detect QR and barcodes in real time, on your device. Camera frames are processed locally and are never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
Scanned text: the decoded text is sent directly to your paired Mac over your local Wi-Fi network so it can be typed. It is not stored by the apps beyond showing you the last scan, and it never leaves your network.
Local network: the apps discover each other using Bonjour and communicate peer-to-peer. There is no cloud relay.
Pairing keys: when you pair a device, a cryptographic key is generated and stored in the device's system Keychain to secure future connections. It stays on your devices and is never transmitted in the clear.

Security

Connections between your iPhone and Mac are end-to-end encrypted and only work between devices you have explicitly paired with a one-time code. See the security overview for details.

Permissions

Camera (iPhone) — to scan codes.
Local Network (iPhone) — to find and connect to your Mac.
Accessibility (Mac) — so the app can type the received text into the focused app. This permission is granted by you in System Settings and used solely for typing.

Children

KeystrokeQR is a general-purpose utility and does not target children or knowingly collect any information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
